November & December Kids Gardening and Nature Club: “For a Cause”
This season, our November and December club days will be themed “For a Cause,” focusing on the spirit of giving and community care during the holidays. Together, we’ll explore how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our community. The children will help prepare fresh salads and snacks for our Free Food Fridge, learning that gardening and food can be ways to share compassion and support those facing challenging circumstances. We’ll also include a lesson on mutual aid, introducing the idea that helping one another is not charity, but community—people coming together to ensure everyone has what they need. To deepen the theme of kindness, there will be a special activity inspired by compassion and empathy provided by the Albany Buddhist Sangha’s Children’s Dharma School. Through hands-on learning and giving, our young gardeners and nature lovers will discover that nurturing plants and nurturing people go hand in hand.
