ONLINE ‘KEEPING BACKYARD CHICKENS’ CLASS

Interested in raising backyard chickens but not sure where to start? This class is designed for those looking to keep small flocks, with a focus on cold-hardy heritage breeds. We'll explore essential topics like secure and comfortable coop setups, feeding and caring for your flock, and keeping chickens happy and healthy during northeast winters. Participants will gain practical knowledge on local regulations, predator protection, and manure management, helping you confidently care for your own backyard flock. Whether you're looking for fresh eggs, natural pest control, the joy of raising chickens, or simply planning to start with a few hens or improve your current setup, this two part workshop will provide the insights and resources needed for success. No prior experience required!

This course is being offered online for the first time, and is perfectly timed for those looking to start a flock before winter — you'll still have plenty of time to purchase chicks, brood them, and get them settled into their coop before the cold sets in. The class is offered online in two engaging 3-hour sessions, with plenty of time for Q&A and discussion. To keep things personal and interactive, class size is limited to 12 participants, and there is a minimum amount of students for the class to run.

Schedule is Monday July 28th and Tuesday July 29th from 6:00PM EST to 9:00PM EST.

Once registered, within 2-3 days you will receive a welcome letter, and an invitation to the Google Meet. All participants will receive a PDF of the presentation, and a 50+ page PDF and eBook version of a document that dives deeper into, and elaborates upon, the content discussed during the two sessions. We believe our workshops should be accessible, and if cost is a barrier, we gladly accept trades, bartering, or can offer a scholarship. Just reach out!
