What We Do

We design, build, and support regenerative projects using ecological design principles and practical construction methods. Our work includes food-growing systems, composting infrastructure, green building elements, and site improvements. We collaborate with partners to plan, construct, and maintain these systems over time.

Community

In addition to client-based work, our community-based projects are intended to demonstrate practical, small-scale approaches to regenerative land use. By working with local groups and institutions, we help design and implement systems for food production, composting and material reuse, and low-impact energy use that can be maintained over time and adapted to different sites and needs.

“We don’t have a right to ask whether we are going to succeed or not. The only thing we have a right to ask is, ‘What’s the right thing to do? What does this earth require of us if we want to continue to live on it?’”

— Wendell Berry

Who We Are

  • Richard Daley

Grounded in practice and guided by a whole-systems approach to design and building, Richard’s work centers on regenerative, human-scale systems. His primary interests include agroecology and agroforestry, timber framing and green building, and the design of sustainable systems that serve collective needs. Over the years he has collaborated on numerous projects and facilitated workshops in varied settings, from formal institutions to grassroots gatherings. Richard holds a degree in Green Building from the State University of New York, and his writing has appeared in Permaculture Design Magazine, Lion’s Roar Magazine, Resilience, and other publications.

  • Mollie Daley

Mollie supports Sunray Sustainability through administrative coordination, outreach, and project support. She has spent many years as a career and technical education teacher in both private and public institutions and has served as a work-based learning coordinator, connecting high school students with internship and career exploration opportunities while partnering with numerous businesses throughout the Capital District. Through this work, she has most enjoyed building relationships with community members and working directly with youth and families as part of Sunray Sustainability’s educational programs and ongoing projects.
